PHILLPOTT RESIDENCE
The clients, Mr and Mrs Phillpott, worked with architect EB Design to come up with a design satisfying the clients' needs and doing justice to the amazing location.
The Phillpotts engaged Alan Jurd Building to carry out the construction of their spacious two-storey relaxed executive dwelling complementing the beautiful bushland setting.
The house comprises of two levels – the lower level consisting of a large four car garage and workshop/storage area. Access to the top level is via an elevated entrance leading into the entrance foyer, with feature windows showing the rural views to the rear and living areas to either side. The upper level is split into two pavillions, one consisting of kitchen, dining, lounge room, main bedroom with en suite and office as well as another double garage. The other has secondary living area, two more bedrooms, bathroom and internal staircase.
The house has been designed to achieve maximum benefit from the rural views to the north, with the northern elevation being constructed primarily all glass.
Internally, large spotted gum floorboards flow throughout the house with a beautiful stone kitchen the centrepiece of the open plan design.
Externally, the lower level walls featured a magnificent grey marble with the upper level lined in James Hardie Matrix cladding.
Travertine was the material of choice for all the outdoor areas encompassing entrance, stairs and large suspended verandahs.
Also included in the scope was the construction of masonry retaining walls and two large exposed aggregate driveways.
