BROUGHTON VALE
The Country Estate at Broughton Vale, owned by Mr & Mrs Skinner, is set on a large acreage below the escarpment. The clients engaged architects Bishop, Hitchcock and Irwin to design the sprawling, predominantly single level residence and large swimming pool.

The design includes a prestigious entrance featuring two 3.5 metre high Australian red cedar doors, sourced from the Bonds Factory in The Rocks, Sydney. From the entrance foyer, visitors are led to a large, centrally located kitchen. Either side of the kitchen are a dining area and living room with wood burning fireplaces. Included are four master bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, games room and large double garage and storeroom.

The design is a classic U-shape, with all rooms overlooking the luxurious outdoor entertaining area and 16m long swimming pool. The design takes advantage of the sloping gradient of the land by including a large basement storage area and wine cellar below the main living area.
Also included in the scope was to supply and install concrete water storage tanks that supply the dwelling and an effluent treatment system suitable for the occupants' requirements.

On completion of the main residence and swimming pool, the clients further engaged Alan Jurd Building to carry out numerous other projects on the estate, including bitumen access road to the property, an equestrian arena, horse stables, rotunda and tennis court.
